One of the well known dining cuisines in China is the hotpot, known as stew. Hotpot includes a pot shared by people from the whole table, with the uncooked and properly washed and freshed food including thinly sliced meat, leaf vegetables, mushrooms, wontons, egg dumplings, and seafood.
The cooked food is often eaten with the dipping sauce, and variation of the cooking method can be added with the different cooking soup, e.g. the pepper, chicken soup, etc).
Hotpot used to be the supper time for certain families, especially those in the north China who bear the freezing weather in winter. It is currently more common across whole seasons, and become one popular hanging out/social activities.
What does not change is that hotpot is a sharing act between the people under the same dining table. People cook food together, and eat together. We appreciate the value of dining more through hotpot.
